When we requested earlier this season what sort of projects you needed this holiday season, a whole bunch of you said you wanted quick and simple decorations! I dug out all our Christmas snacks and realized I had the specific thing — a quick and easy DIY decoration garland for the mantel. This really is something that I put together a few years ago to our own Christmas decorations and that I just completely forgot to share it. And on top of that, it only takes two substances and really five minutes. I vow, five minutes.
- Christmas decoration set (ours are from Target a couple years back, but these or these could be really cute!)
- Thick rope or twine
Make Time 5 Minutes
Step 1: Cut a length of twine to the length of the mantel, and two toes.
Step 2: Slip 1 end of the twine through the loop on your first decoration. Twist down it the twine leaving about a foot of additional twine at the finish, and tie the twine into a knot round the ribbon loop.
Step 3: Maintain stringing ornaments on the twine (from the very long end of the string) and knotting them on the twine. Space them evenly apart. Stop whenever your garland reaches the preferred length.
That is it! It’s such a simple way to use Christmas decorations but it’s really fun and merry hanging on a mantel. We receive so many opinions each year about what an effortless idea it is and how entertaining it looks all strung up. And if you do not own a mantel, hang it in a doorway, or over your sofa, or merely anywhere. You might also apply the same idea to all sorts of different items to create garlands — pinecones, candy canes, bottle brush trees, and much more. Now go deck those halls! xoxo
P.S.. A giant pinecone garland plus a Exotic vacation garland!
